Iranian directors to discuss Italy neorealist cinema

TEHRAN -- Iranian directors Kamran Shirdel and Mohammadreza Aslani will deliver lectures on Italy’s neorealist cinema at the Iranian Artists Forum here on Nov. 28.
Italian Ambassador Roberto Toscano and Pier Paolo Calza, the assistant of celebrated Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci, are also scheduled to attend the event organized by the Association of Iranian Graduates from Italy.
The lecturers will identify the social backgrounds of the neorealist cinema in Italy and will survey the influence of the genre on cinema of Iran and the world at the present time.
In addition, the film critic and journalist Calza will review Bertolucci’s works at Tehran’s Andisheh Hall on Nov. 29.
He has a doctorate in modern literature, majoring in history and criticism of the cinema.
Calza was also a jury member of the Short Film Section of Milan Street Film Festival.
